The association of any diabetes with DNA methylation also remained significant after expansion of the basic models to include the following correlates of diabetes status in the sample: BMI, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, drinking status, HDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, log-transformed CRP, and log-transformed gamma-GT (β = 0.653; p = 0.038).
