A publication in 2006 from this same center reported significantly higher frequency of manifestations of non-erosive arthritis (100 vs 32%), myositis (33 vs 0%), gastrointestinal symptoms (93 vs 9%) and the autoantibody anti-SSA (100 vs 53%) in First Nations compared to non-First Nations children with juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus, but with disease activity at presentation and damage at 6 months not being significantly different [89]. This evidence concerns the gene CALR and systemic lupus erythematosus.
