Serum albumin, which is routinely used as nutritional status marker, is sometimesinconsistent with malnutrition detection[5], since it is influenced by factors such ascatabolism[5], inflammatoryactivity of the disease, hospitalization, and liver and kidney diseases[19], although it is described aspostoperative mortality prognostic indicator[5,7]. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is nutritional deficiency disease.
