The tumor suppressor gene, tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2, (TFPI-2), which is often epigenetically silenced in cancers [174], is antisense to LCT13 and it was shown that LCT13 transcript levels are correlated with down regulation of TFPI-2 and associated with repressive chromatin marks at the TFPI-2 promoter [172]. This evidence concerns the gene TFPI2 and cancer.
