FOXO4 and cancer: Based on the protein expression levels and previous reports, FOXO4 were picked up on account of the following reasons: (1) Among these molecules, only FOXO4 displayed dramatic reverse changed in its expression in response to altered expression of miR-150 (Supplementary Fig. S1); (2) Previously, the decreased expression of FOXO4 was associated with increased malignance in gastric and prostate cancers25, 26, suggesting that FOXO4, as a putative tumor suppressor gene, is implicated in the development of human cancers.
