In the studied group of T1DM children and adolescents with the amount of yeast-like fungi 10^3 CFU/g significantly lower HbA1c levels were seen as well as lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and lower serum VEGF levels versus T1DM patients with the amount of yeast like fungi colonizing the alimentary tract 10^6 CFU/g. Here, VEGFA is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
