In agreement, we observed IFI16 foci overlap with centromere protein complexes and ICP0 during infection with HSV-1 viruses with functional ICP0 (WT and d106), but not those lacking either ICP0 ubiquitylation activity (RF) or ICP0 expression (d109) (Fig. 3F; see Fig. S3E in the supplemental material). This evidence concerns the gene IFI16 and infection.
