TP53BP2 and neoplasm: Current evidence supports the idea that tumor resistance to anticancer therapies including chemotherapy can be enhanced through upregulation of autophagy in various tumor cell lines.25 MTS (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium, inner salt) assay showed that knockdown of ASPP2 increased tumor cell viability under the treatment of fluorouracil (5-FU) or etoposide (VP16), whereas inhibition of autophagy by 3-MA could block the autophagy-induced chemoresistance (Figure 6d).
