Additional evidence for their physiological importance are provided by genome-wide association studies (GWAS), which showed that a polymorphic variant of ANGPTL4, E40K (E15K in the mature protein) is associated with mild hypotriglyceridemia and reduced risk of coronary artery disease (Dewey et al., 2016; Helgadottir et al., 2016; Stitziel et al., 2016). The gene discussed is ANGPTL4; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
