REN and congestive heart failure: Patients who died were older than surviving patients (72.1 versus 68.6 years, p < 0.0001), had higher prevalence of MVD (75.0% versus 63.3%, p = 0.001) and CHF (22.5% versus 11.1%, p < 0.0001) at baseline, and were less likely to be receiving renin-angiotensin blockade (RAB) (43.9% versus 66.4%, p < 0.0001), more than 3 anti-hypertensive agents (45.5% versus 54.9%, p = 0.017) or statins (50.7% versus 69.9%, p < 0.0001) at time of diagnosis.
