Previous studies proved that gp130, serving as an inflammation-related cytokine receptor, plays an important part in the progression of several cancers such as ovarian cancer16, breast cancer17, prostate cancer18, colon cancer19 and lung cancer20, of which the mechanism for tumor progression is almost all related to IL-6 or IL-11/gp130/STAT3 signaling axis. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and cancer.
