IL6 and skin infection: Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess vitamin D status of male college wrestlers during the academic year and determine if low vitamin D status (i.e., low circulating concentrations of 25-hydroxy vitamin D) was associated with documented incidence of acute illness, including skin infections, and with circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10).
