Intracoronary administration of IGF-1 and HGF, in doses ranging from 0.5 to 2 μg HGF and 2 to 8 μg IGF-1, just below the site of left anterior descendent occlusion, 30 min after MI during coronary reperfusion in the pig, triggered a regenerative response from the CSCs, which is potent and able to produce physiologically significant regeneration of the damaged myocardium (Ellison et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene IGF1 and myocardial infarction.
