Interestingly, male and female SST-KO mice displayed unaltered ITTs under HF-diet, consistent with previous results under standard conditions13; however, males presented elevated plasmatic levels of insulin and glucose and impaired glucose tolerance, suggesting that female SST-KO mice could be, somehow, protected, at least partially, from the deleterious effects of HF-feeding41. The gene discussed is SST; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
