In the case of the 10–15% of lung cancers harbouring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations (in the Caucasian population) and another 3–5% having anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangements, targeted therapy with erlotinib, gefitinib, or afatinib in the former and with crizotinib in the latter case is recommended. Here, ALK is linked to lung cancer.
