Second, three of our differentially expressed proteins overlapped with the nine genes that were reported in a pathway meta-analysis of bipolar disorder and showed differential expression in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in bipolar disorder patients:48 inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor type 1 (P<0.005, overlap with ITPR2 isoform of 65% as determined by BLAST analysis), dystrobrevin alpha (DTNA, P<0.05) and neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor. The gene discussed is ITPR1; the disease is bipolar disorder.
