FGFR2 and keloid: As specific alterations in the expression of splicing factors in numerous diseases have been demonstrated, we also screened relevant splicing regulators for FGFR2 in keloid tissues and fibroblasts and found increased expression of polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (PTB), a negative splicing regulator of the FGFR2-IIIb isoform, that effects its function by binding to the silencing elements around exon IIIb15.
