DYRK1A and cancer: Considering cancer related genes, we find very important oncogenes such as AKT, a serine/threonine-specific protein kinase that plays a key role in multiple cellular processes such as glucose metabolism, apoptosis, cell proliferation, transcription, and cell migration (Paplomata and O'Regan, 2014), and PTK2, a focal adhesion-associated protein kinase involved in cellular adhesion and spreading processes (Sulzmaier et al., 2014).
