SNPs within this gene are associated with lower levels of dysbindin expression in post-mortem brain studies (Talbot et al., 2004, 2006), increased risk for schizophrenia in case-control studies (Straub et al., 2002) and with paranoid schizotypy in a Caucasian sample (Stefanis et al., 2008). Here, DTNBP1 is linked to schizophrenia.
