These findings were further validated in a panel of pro-inflammatory genes by quantitative RT-PCR which demonstrated SAHA treatment caused a dose-dependent increase in the expression of this panel of inflammatory genes linked to the tumor-supportive senescence associated secretory phenotype (SASP) [16, 21], including IL8, CXCL1, IL1A, SPP1, IL6, CCL2, and ICAM1 (Figure 3B).
