IBD-associated hypermethylation within the TXK gene between the 5′ untranslated region and first exon region was associated with a reduction in TXK gene expression seen in globin mRNA depleted whole blood (log fold change=−0.38, P=7.2 × 10−5, linear model) and CD8+ T cells (log fold change −0.41, P=0.03, linear model), but not other cell types (Fig. 5). This evidence concerns the gene TXK and inflammatory bowel disease.
