Patients with COPD are also more likely to have other cardiovascular comorbidities, including central abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome, particularly in earlier stages of COPD.6, 7, 8 Endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) and, particularly, epoxyeicosatrienoic acid (EET) are involved in the modulation of vascular tone,9 attenuation of inflammation,10 and activation of fibrinolysis by augmenting tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) expression.11 Here, PLAT is linked to metabolic syndrome.
