Gliozzi et al.'s study [45] included subjects with mixed hypercholesterolemia, whereas in the other study 4 different groups were included: (i) subjects with hypercholesterolemia, (ii) hyperlipidemia (hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia), (iii) hyperlipidemia and glycemia over 110 mg/dL, and (iv) patients who discontinued statin therapy for muscular pain and a significant elevation of serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK). This evidence concerns the gene PIK3C2A and hypertriglyceridemia.
