SEPTIN9 and cancer: In cancer cell lines, elevated expression of SEPT9 isoforms (e.g., SEPT9_i1/i4) and down-regulation of SEPT10 have been reported to confer resistance to the anti-cancer microtubule-targeting drug paclitaxel (Amir and Mabjeesh, 2007; Froidevaux-Klipfel et al., 2011; Chacko et al., 2012; Xu et al., 2012).
