HLA-DPB1 and graft versus host disease: Kawase and colleagues identified eight mismatch combinations (two HLA-Cw and six HLA-DPB1), which were associated with decreased risk of relapse and differed from mismatches responsible for severe acute GvHD (124) Moreover, patients given grafts with these combinations of HLA-DPB1 had significantly better overall survival compared to recipients of completely matched donor/recipient pairs (124).
