TP53 and rheumatoid arthritis: Although Bax is a key pro-apoptotic effector of p53 in most of the cases, it is possible that p53 does not control Bax in the specific tissue of synovium, and it gives us a reasonable explanation why p53 cannot induce apoptosis in FLS, suggesting that there might be other mechanisms for aberrant apoptosis induced by p53 in RA synovium.
