Among others, we found that the -1000/+0 promoter region of miR-196a contained the binding sites for FOXOq1, CREB3 and E2F, which are known to be activated by PI3K/AKT signaling [55–57] and thus are candidates to transcriptionally mediate PI3K/AKT-dependent regulation of miR-196a expression in NSCLC cells. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
