Many gene mutations are responsible for causing familial ALS such as mutations in PFN1, FUS/TLS (fused in sarcoma/translocation in liposarcoma), TARDBP or TDP-43 (TAR-DNA-binding protein 43), UBQLN2, C9ORF72, SOD1 (superoxide dismutase 1), HNRNPA1, OPTN, and VCP (Adami et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and liposarcoma.
