GSK3 signaling is extremely important in neural development and perhaps in order to repair the damage and to protect the cells from AD neuro-degeneration, this protein appears in AD brains but micro-environment is now quite different as compared to the time of embryogenesis, and in AD p53 gets stabilized forming a complex with GSK3β and contributes to neuronal death, ultimately speeding up AD. The gene discussed is GSK3B; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
