Among several molecules which are suggested to be involved in the pathogenesis of BD and are known to be involved in inflammation (interleukin 1, interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 10, interleukin 17, interferon gamma), oxidative stress (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, protein carbonyl content), and neurotrophins (BDNF), only IL-6 levels have been found to be significantly higher in BD-P compared to BD-FDR [87]. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is Behcet disease.
