While Mtb-specific CD4+ T cells were poor MIP-1β producers, making them more susceptible to HIV infection, MIP-1β secretion was mostly observed in polyfunctional Mtb-specific cells (∼15%) [3], suggesting that this could contribute, in part, to the maintenance of polyfunctional responses to Mtb during HIV infection.
