RPA1 and cancer: Interestingly, we have observed markedly increased baseline levels of RPA phosphorylation and oxidative DNA lesions (8-oxo-guanine) in GBM cells in comparison to above evaluated non-GBM cancer and non-malignant cell lines (Supplementary Fig. 4f), which allow us to speculate that our results reflect differential starting levels of endogenous RS and hence selective raise of RS to intolerably high levels in only the GBM models, or some more fundamental differences between RS responses in GBM versus epithelial cancers, a task which remains to be investigated in future studies.
