Another pioneer study on the blood-based detection of methylated DNA by Lofton-Day et al., [41] identified three genes: SEPT9, transmembrane protein with EGF-like and two follistatin-like domains 2 (TMEFF2) and nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR), to serve as sensitive biomarkers for CRC. The gene discussed is TMEFF2; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
