TNFRSF10B (or TRAIL, DR5) is a TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand that possesses the unique capacity to induce apoptosis selectively in many cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, with CASP8 (or FLICE) to be recruited for downstream death signaling induction which is, in turn, sufficient to directly and fully activate the effector CASP3, resulting in apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and cancer.
