Hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), also known as Lynch syndrome (LS) is an autosomal dominant familial syndrome characterized by germline mutations in mismatch repair (MMR) genes such as mutS homolog 2, colon cancer, non-polyposis type 1 (MSH2) and mutL homolog 1, colon cancer, non-polyposis type 2 (MLH1) (25). Here, MSH2 is linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer.
