As expected, HLA-DRA rs3135388 (De Jager et al., 2009; OR = 3.04; p = 0.004) and rs3129889 (Patsopoulos et al., 2011; OR = 3.04; p = 0.004), variants in strong linkage disequilibrium with one another, as well as HLA-DQA1 rs9271366 (Australia New Zealand Multiple Sclerosis Genetics Consortium, 2009; OR = 2.16; p = 0.003) were strongly associated with MS in the present study. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-DRA and multiple sclerosis.
