The GAC isoform has been found highly expressed in different types of cancer including lymphoma, glioma, breast, pancreatic etc. Inhibition of glutaminase has been recently reported by several groups as an attractive therapeutic approach in various cancers [1–3], and studies using small molecule inhibitors to block its enzymatic activity or genetic knockdown have demonstrated antitumor activity in models of lymphoma and glioma, and of breast, pancreatic, and renal cancer [2–3]. Here, GLS is linked to cancer.
