Tumor antigens are classified as tumor-specific antigens (TSAs), derived from cancer-germline genes, point mutations or oncogenic viruses and unique to tumor cells, or tumor-associated antigens (TAAs), which include differentiation antigens (tyrosinase, gp100, Melan-A/MART-1, carcinoembryonic antigen, prostate-specific antigen, prostatic acidic phosphatase, etc.)and peptides associated with genes overexpressed in tumors (survivin, erbB-2 or CD340, RAGE-1, PRAME, and WT1)12,13. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and cancer.
