Nerve growth factor (NGF) has two known receptors: the specific, high-affinity receptor, tropomyosin-receptor kinase A (TRKA), which has been reported to activate pro-survival signaling in the pancreatic cancer cells and nerves, and the low-affinity receptor, p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR), which also binds other neurotrophins [16]. This evidence concerns the gene NGFR and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
