In recent years, several studies have confirmed that NSCLC-related driver gene mutations (such as EGFR and KRAS) could be detected in plasma DNA by a variety of methods, including BEAMing (beads, emulsion, amplification, and magnetics) technology [13], peptide nucleic acid (PNA)-mediated polymerase chain reaction (PCR) [14] and the Scorpion ARMS-based EGFR mutation detection method [15]. This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
