Since COMMD1 inhibits NF-κB activity and can interact with BRCA1, it is tempting to speculate that nuclear COMMD1 represses the BRCA1-p50 mediated transcription of BCL2 and XIAP and thereby sensitizes ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin-induced apoptosis (model in Fig 6). This evidence concerns the gene COMMD1 and ovarian carcinoma.
