For practical applications, an antibody panel can be designed to identify expression of GLUT1 (diagnostic clinical marker for IH) and IH cell surface signature markers (such as CD10, CD13, CD44 and CD73) by immunohistochemistry, an established method routinely used for in vitro diagnostic assays and a useful adjunct to diagnostic histology. The gene discussed is SLC2A1; the disease is isolated hemihyperplasia.
