Of these proteins CTRP3 (synonyms CORS-26, cartducin and cartonectin) has been demonstrated to protect against ischemia-induced cardiac damage (Wu et al., 2015; Yi et al., 2012) and circulating CTRP3 levels were recently found to be reduced in patients with acute coronary syndrome (Choi et al., 2014). The gene discussed is C1QTNF3; the disease is acute coronary syndrome.
