RPA1 and cancer: As the malignant counterparts of these cells have been found in a number of epithelial neoplasms, including HNSCC (reviewed in [55]) and have been implicated in metastasis [56, 57], tumor angiogenesis [58], and lymphangiogenesis [59] (see below), we speculate that LIM-only, LIM domain-binding, and single-stranded DNA-binding proteins regulate both normal and cancer stem cells.
