Up-regulation of MALAT1 expression was reported in a variety of cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (Ji et al. 2003; Schmidt et al. 2011), hepatocellular carcinoma (Lai et al. 2012), gastric cancer (Okugawa et al. 2014), pancreatic cancer (Liu et al. 2014; Pang et al. 2015), colorectal cancer (Zheng et al. 2014), clear cell renal cell carcinoma (Zhang et al. 2015), esophageal cancer (Hu et al. 2015; Huang et al. 2016a), gallbladder cancer (Wang et al. 2016), bladder cancer (Fan et al. 2014), osteosarcoma (Dong et al. 2015) and breast cancer (Huang et al. 2016b; Miao et al. 2016). This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
