Sushi domain containing 2 (SUSD2) was identified by a cDNA library enriched for genes that encode membrane and secreted proteins that are highly expressed in cancer cells with minimal expression in normal tissues.14 SUSD2 is a type I transmembrane protein that contains a somatomedin B, AMOP, von Willebrand factor type D and Sushi domains, which are frequently found in molecules associated with cell–cell and cell–matrix adhesion. Here, SUSD2 is linked to cancer.
