EGFR and triple-negative breast carcinoma: Breast cancer can be divided into three sub-types: hormone sensitive breast cancer, which expresses estrogen receptors (ER) and/or progesterone receptors (PR); HER2-positive breast cancer, which expresses human epidermal growth factor receptor (ErbB2, a member of the EGFR family); and triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), a type of breast cancer which is difficult to treat due to the lack of ER, PR, and HER2 expression.
