Conversely, down-regulation of SR-BI in prostate cancer cells (C4-2 and LNCap cell lines) has been shown to cause a significant reduction in cellular viability and PSA secretion (Twiddy et al., 2012) and inhibit cellular motility in a wound-healing assay of nasopharyngeal cancer cell lines (Zheng et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene SCARB1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
