However reports of alteration in RECQL5 in sporadic cancer are emerging, these include polymorphisms associated with cancer [19, 22–24], one report that RECQL5 mRNA and protein levels are reduced in colorectal cancer (CRC) [42] and a recent report by our lab showing high levels of RECQL5 are associated with aggressive phenotypes and poor survival outcomes in breast cancer [25]. The gene discussed is RECQL5; the disease is colorectal cancer.
