Several articles exploring the potential of transformed LAB for diabetes treatments have also been published, including the use of L. lactis to deliver insulin analog [33–35] or combined expression of IL-10 and glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65) [36], and the use of Bifidobacterium longum to deliver GLP-1 [37] or Lactobacillus gasseri to deliver GLP-1(1–37) [38]. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and diabetes mellitus.
